And this Swan Lake brought to London by Mariinsky Ballet was absolutely amazing.
The Saint-Petersburg Mariinsky ballet, in my opinion, is the finest ballet company in the world.
Dancers, all educated at Vaganova academy, possess very unique , lyrical and exquisite style which cannot be repeated by anybody else.
And Alina Somova proved it very well. Extremely sophisticated and endlessly elegant she created a very fragile and ethereal Odette, while her Odile was sharp, seductive, confident and mature.
White adagio was performed with a great range of emotions and shows us how love and relationship between Prince Siegfried ( Kimin Kim) and Odette developed, and the mood of this pas-des-deux was channeling true love and devotion.
While Black Swan pas-des-deux show Odile as a belle of the ball, intriguing everybody and winning Prince. And 32 fouettes were PERFECT, done on one spot precisely with such high speed of rotation you can rarely see !
Well done, Alina ! One of the most beautiful Swan Lakes I ever seen !
