To watch full programme of Diagilev festival was absolutely incredible !
Every piece was so unique.
Shopeniana as always was very heavenly, very fairy-like, the perfect classic masterpiece, sending your mind to Tamara Karsavina, Anna Pavlova and Vatslav Nijinsky.
While Petrushka, along with the bright and intense colours and mood of Russian winter fair, was channeling the philosophical issues of broken heart, love and tragedy of misunderstanding. On the surface it was all fun, but more deeper conflicts were hiding beneath.
Extremely seductive Scheherazade took our breath away. With outstanding Yulia Makhalina as Zobeida and Artem Yachmennikov as Golden Slave characters of ancient legend came to life and enchanted us.
The performance of Polovitsian Dances was the showstopper ! The high level of performance, the energy, epic Borodin's music, the power ... It was phenomenally performed along with live choir. Unforgettable experience !
Also we especially liked that Andris Liepa himself talked to audience, telling about history and legacy of Diagilev's seasons. And the last performance of Yulia Makhaline, The Dying Swan, was very emotional for me. Danced with a background of Diagilev's portrait it created a feeling that talented impresario was there himself !
Looking forward to see it next year!
